Traffic-Related Deaths are Spiking in Las Vegas

As traffic accidents are on a steady incline in 2024, they are showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, pedestrian deaths are up nearly 61% year-to-date. Although a good portion of these include illegal street crossings, they could still be avoided if drivers exercised more caution on their everyday commutes.

The biggest contributing factors to the incline? Distracted driving and reckless driving. Two very small words for such devastating outcomes.

Damages You May Recover

Anytime a driver demonstrates reckless and intentional or egregious negligence behind the wheel and their negligence results in injury or death, the victim and/or the family of the victim has the right to pursue compensation for damages in the following forms: economic,  non-economic, and punitive.

Economic damages are those which can be quantified. These damages include medical bills, lost wages and property damage to name a few. Non-economic damages are those that cannot be calculated, rather–they are felt. Non-economic damages include emotional distress, anxiety, pain and suffering, loss of consortium, etc… Finally, punitive damages are those that are awarded by a jury when the offense is considered heinous or so egregious that the tortfeasor must be taught a lesson publicly.
