A bicyclist was hit by a vehicle Tuesday morning near Tropicana Avenue and Decatur Boulevard.

As reported by the LVMPD, the bicyclist was transported to a hospital nearby and the condition of the victim is unknown.

The accident happened in the early morning around 4:00 a.m. and intoxication was not a factor in the incident, as reported by police.

Bicycle-related accidents are 3x more fatal than traditional car accidents. Additionally, they account for nearly 33 percent of all traffic deaths in the State of Nevada, as reported by Zero Fatalities.

For that reason, among many others, the LVMPD has kicked off a safe driving campaign where they will work closely with Zero Fatalities to attempt to keep drivers aware and focused on the road at all times.

Our thoughts go out to the bicyclist that was hit.
