09/11/2020 – Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) has reported a fatal car accident involving a car versus an SUV. The driver of the car, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, a man, reported slight injuries. The car crash happened on Northbound U.S. 95 near Russell Road.

The driver of the SUV was taken into police custody on suspicion of DUI. No further details have been released.

DUI accidents are becoming increasingly prevalent in Clark County. 64 percent of fatalities and 82 percent of serious injuries have involved the use of alcohol while operating a vehicle. In 2018, a report by the Department of Transportation suggests that 26 percent of all DUI accident fatalities occurred in Nevada, making it the 30th deadliest state in the Nation for drunk-driving-related fatalities.
